In the external world, I generally wear two hats, though I'm finding that they are rapidly morphing into one rather interesting creation....
Dutch-born, I've been working with multi-dimensional Source energies for two decades. I trained in New Zealand and Australia as a medium, channeller and healer in the Spiritualist and Reiki traditions. I've studied both Eastern and Western paths, focusing on indigenous peoples’ shamanic teachings and therapeutic processes for healing Self. I honour all beliefs as they assist in the journey around the Circle of Life towards Wholeness.
As a medicine woman, I ‘walk between the worlds', accessing wisdom from those unseen dimensions. I blend this knowledge, the ancient teachings and current psychological understanding, into the form most relevant to our times.
I work with individuals and in churches and spiritual centres as an ordained non-denominational minister and celebrant, sweat lodge leader, teacher of metaphysics and facilitator of personal growth and spiritual development workshops. I offer intuitive guidance, energy work, Breath Integration, Focusing, Voice Dialogue, Transpersonal Psychology, Macro-Structural Dynamics and meditation as tools to uncover the underlying patterns controlling your choices and behaviour, so that you can then consciously create a new future.
So, that's the 'alternative' me...
The mainstream me works as a freelance communications specialist (writer, editor, voice person), marketing and PR consultant, event manager and fund-raiser... I also hang out at Microsoft as a moderator at the Centre for Information Work - which is really fun and I spend a lot of time agitating (stirring the pot, beating the drum) to keep alternative schools open, well funded and resourced... My other 'social' passion is to actively help put an end to violence - personal, familial, community, societal and global... My particular focus is on domestic violence, where the cycle of abuse and victimisation repeats itself down through the generations. I'm working part-time on starting the Purple Dove Foundation to raise awareness about, and funds for, this issue, and I hope eventually it will match in scale what the Susan G Komen Foundation has been doing for breast cancer.
I'm also still wearing my parenting hat - which really is where my focus and priority lie and also is the motivation from which my activism arises.
And if I have any time left to myself, I like to socialise with people, read, listen to music, eat good food, drink good coffee and red wine and go out into the big wide world, preferably on a sunny and/or snowy day...
Your Tradition
I'd call myself a Synthesist...
My journey has been a meandering one, wandering off the path of Roman Catholicism and through the woods as a spiritualist, gnostic/mystic and shaman, stopping to drink at the stream of indigenous, goddess and earth religions, knocking on the door of buddhism, ducking down various 'new age' alleys (not all blind!) and resting at the crossroads where science, art and metaphysics converge.
